SEAMUS 2024 National Conference – Call for Works

SEAMUS 2024 National Conference, 40th Anniversary – a constellation of regional hosts

The Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States (SEAMUS) is pleased to invite submissions for its 2024 National Conference, the 40th anniversary of the organization’s national conference. This year the conference will consist of a constellation of regional events hosted by SEAMUS members and affiliated institutions around the country. The Submission Deadline is now EXTENDED to December 10, 2023, 11:59 AoE (translates to Dec 11 @4pm EST).

Each regional event has a unique call for works, together showcasing a wide range of electroacoustic practices around the U.S. The varied nature of these regional events will provide an excellent opportunity for practitioners of electro-acoustic music to have their music heard at the national level and to interact with SEAMUS members around the country.

In addition to the general conference, SEAMUS invites student members to submit works to the 2024 Sweetwater/SEAMUS Student Commission Competition. Full guidelines for the competition can be found here https://seamusonline.org/sweetwaterseamus/.
Please note that there is also a one-time Commission Award, open to all members, in relation to the host event, “Holding Space,” detailed in its specific Call, below.

SUBMISSIONS

SEAMUS members may make one submission to the 2024 SEAMUS National Conference Submission Portal. Submitters will select up to two regional events for which to have their work considered. Individual guidelines are given for each of the regional events. Please review all guidelines carefully before submitting and consider the suitability of each event for the work being submitted before selecting your preferences.
Student members may submit to both the general conference and the Sweetwater/SEAMUS Competition. A separate application will need to be submitted for each.

POLICIES

Attendance: Attendance requirements vary by individual event. Please verify individual attendance policies before submitting.

Submission Limits: Submitters may submit one work to the conference total, either a piece or a paper. Submitters must be SEAMUS members to apply to the conference and/or to the Sweetwater/SEAMUS Award.
