Short Bio
The progress of my musical journey traces quite an unlikely path. I started my professional life, not in music, but in microbiology, working as a laboratory analyst in biopharma. After spending 16+ years in the corporate sector, I eventually completed my Bachelor’s in Music at Cal State East Bay in 2013. I made a transition to study music full time in August 2014 and completed the Master’s Degree in Music Composition at the University of Redlands in Redlands, CA, in 2016. I completed the Doctor of Musical Arts degree program in Composition at the University of Georgia, Athens, while also having provided support for the Dancz electronic music center at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music. I have studied with Peter Van Zandt Lane, Emily Koh, and Adrian Childs. Andres R. Luz is a member of ASCAP and is published by Post-Classical Music and Murphy Music Press.
