Important Links
See the sidebar for all the pages relating to your membership information.
- Edit membership: This lets you subscribe at any membership level, and pay in the same form. No form will be visible to you if your membership is still active.
- View membership: This page shows your current membership status, including invoices. Note that invoices from the previous membership system may not be displayed.
- Update billing: This lets you add a new card, or pick an existing one. We use Stripe for billing, so none of your billing information is saved on the site.
- Edit profile: Your profile is any personal information about yourself as a composer or performer that you choose to include in the member directory. This can include links to your website/socials, your bio, and a photo of you. Your profile also includes any piece you’ve added to the database, but this isn’t editable through the “Edit profile” form.
Renewing/Upgrading
Renewals can be made once your existing subscription period has expired. You can go to “Edit membership” if you don’t have auto-renew turned on.
You do not need to unsubscribe from your current membership level. Once the current subscription period is over, you can then renew at your appropriate membership level.
Auto-Renew
Auto-renewals are now supported! You can enable or disable this at any time. If you choose not to auto-renew, you’ll receive an email a week before it expires.
FAQs
When can I renew my membership?
Renewals cannot be made until your previous year subscription has expired. Once the expiration date has been reached, you will be able to renew. Or, if you choose to auto-renew, Stripe will automatically process your renewal for you.
Where can I see my expiration date?
Click on the “View membership” link in the sidebar. If you have an active membership, you will see the membership type (e.g. “Professional, Domestic”) and the date listed.
Should I cancel my membership in order to renew?
No. Please wait until your previous subscription has expired and then renew your subscription.
Will I receive a notification when my membership has expired?
Yes. If you choose not to auto-renew, you’ll receive an email a week before it expires.
Who do I send my student ID to?
Send it to the current VP of Membership.
Why does “View membership” say I haven’t made any payments?
seamusonline.org recently switched its web host and membership system (as of Aug ’22). While migrating user information is crucial, migrating past payments is more complicated. This information may be added back in the future, but in the meantime, contact the Director of Technological Development should you need a past invoice.
Any payments you make on the new system will appear under the “Invoices” list.
Why does “Update billing” include duplicates of the same card?
Stripe may have saved multiple versions of your card from past payments, but this doesn’t affect your subscription at all. Make sure the active card is correct, and delete the old ones.
Why don’t my previously used credit cards show up under “Update billing?”
Stripe’s system groups your billing information entirely off of your email. If you change the email associated with your account on seamusonline.org, Stripe makes a new “customer” account for you the next time it processes a payment. Your new “customer” account will be completely separate from your old one. This doesn’t affect anything other than what billing information is saved, so you’ll still be able to view your old invoices even if your account’s email changes.
Is PayPal supported?
No. Due to an incredible number of issues with PayPal in previous years, we are now using Stripe instead.
Who should I contact if I have questions regarding my membership?
Questions about creating an account, paying, renewing, or managing your profile through the website should be sent to the Director of Technological Development. All questions concerning your membership benefits or membership itself should be sent to the Vice President of Membership.
