Short Bio
Matt Ridge (b. 1998) is a multifaceted composer, arranger, and percussionist from the Indianapolis area. He enjoys a diverse variety of musical interests, including, but not limited to: concert music, electroacoustic music, film music, the marching arts, indie rock, indie electronic, and experimental rock/jazz.
Matt currently studies at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, pursuing a Bachelor’s in Music Composition with a Minor in Electronic Music. His primary composition teachers include: Don Freund, Sven-David Sandström, Aaron Travers, Claude Baker, Jeffrey Hass (electronic music), John Gibson (electronic music), and Larry Groupé (film music). His works are performed at IU regularly, including the upcoming premiere of a new piece for wind band.
Matt maintains an active and fruitful presence within the marching arts community. As a performer, he has thus far completed three seasons with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps (2016-2018), and two with Music City Mystique (2017 WGI World Class Champions, 2018 co-section leader). He also writes and arranges within the activity regularly.
Matt currently resides in Bloomington, IN and is a member of ASCAP. Outside of music, he takes interest in science, math, film, puzzles, Zelda, the universe, dogs, and the endless void of Internet humor.
