CREATE Grants

SEAMUS Micro CREATE Grants are open to performers, ensembles, composers, creators, and arts organizations that are current members of SEAMUS. These grants are designed to support electroacoustic programming, educational experiences, community-related creative projects, electroacoustic concerts, and events that foster creative and social practices within the electroacoustic community.

For the 2025 cycle, grants will range from $100 to $1,500, averaging around $500. Recipients will also be featured on the SEAMUS website, social media platforms, at a SEAMUS event, and in the SEAMUS journal.

Projects may vary, and we encourage applicants to be as creative as they wish in their proposals. Successful proposals will describe an experience, event, project, or product that can be shared with the SEAMUS community and beyond. Applicants will also be required to submit a budget as part of their proposal.

While funds may be used to support individual creative and/or research projects, proposals that benefit the greater electro-acoustic music community will be given priority. SEAMUS Micro CREATE Grants may also be used to support a portion of a larger project or event. We especially encourage submissions that combine the expertise and energy of our membership with community-engaged work and outreach. Such projects might include designing educational, experiential, or maker opportunities for people in your local community. In general, we will prioritize proposals that take place within the United States and that are community-building and/or that evolve and expand our community’s practices.

Who May Apply?

Performers, ensembles, composers, creators, or arts organizations that are current members of SEAMUS may apply. Applicants may join at the time of entry. To join or renew your SEAMUS membership, visit https://seamusonline.org/register/?step=register.

Review

Applications will be reviewed by members of the SEAMUS Board. All applicants—whether selected or not—will have the option to request feedback on their proposals.

Deadline & Results

Applicants must submit their proposals via this Form by October 1, 2025, at 11:59 PM PT. Grant recipient(s) will be announced in December 2025.

Report & Documentation

The grant recipient(s) will be required to send a brief report and documentation (images, media clips, programs, etc. as applicable) of the completed project within one year of the award and present their work/details of the resulting project at a SEAMUS event.

Note

Applicants are encouraged to be specific in their funding requests. If partial funding would still be beneficial, please outline which components of the project could be supported with a reduced award. SEAMUS also reserves the right to award reduced or no funding in the 2025 cycle if few or no proposals meet the selection criteria.

Questions

If you have any questions, please email Leah Reid ([email protected]) or Mark Vaughn ([email protected]).
