Music for Instruments and Electronics
DEADLINE: July 11, 2016 (OPEN)
SEAMUS is currently accepting applications for our annual Interactions recording series that features works for instruments and electronics. The works will be selected by an adjudication committee and made commercially available via all major online music distributors as well as the SEAMUS website.
Both performers and composers are welcome to apply. One need not be a member of SEAMUS to apply, however, if accepted, the applicant agrees to register for SEAMUS membership. The non-applicants that appear on the recording do not need to be SEAMUS members. (For example: If a performer application is accepted, the performer agrees to join SEAMUS. However, the composer would not need to.)
Submitted recordings must feature a minimum of one performer plus either live or fixed media electronics. Works of any length are welcome, pieces twenty minutes or shorter are preferred.
SEAMUS strongly encourages that the applicant submit professionally recorded works. However, selected applicants will have a six week period to produce a different recorded version if they choose, at their own expense. SEAMUS will not cover or reimburse recording costs. It is required that the people performing in the submitted application also be the people performing on the final submission. SEAMUS reserves the right to deny a recording that is not of acceptable quality.
All applications must be completely anonymous. Neither the name of the performer(s) or the composer may appear anywhere on the submitted recording. Failing to comply with this results in immediate disqualification.
Only one application per person. There is no application fee. All submissions must be complete works (no works-in-progress) and must be received by July 11, 2016. The applicant is responsible for all clearances and licensing required for materials they use in their submissions; SEAMUS will not pay for sample licenses of copyrighted materials, nor will they pay for performer or mechanical fees.
Recordings that have previously been released on a SEAMUS are ineligible.
All submissions must be made through the following web form. No submissions will be accepted via other means, such as email. Please direct any questions regarding the submission process to Keith Kirchoff, Vice President, Programs at [email protected].
