Mark Vaughn is a composer working primarily in electronic music and intermedia environments. He received his Ph.D. and M.A. in Music Composition from the University of North Texas and a B.A. in Music Technology from Montana State University. He currently works as a full-time professor of music and audio engineering at Grayson College in Denison, TX.
In his work he is interested in how multiple layers of signification mediate and condition the aesthetic experience of music. In this regard he has a particular interest in site-specific music; the incorporation of various media in music, such as text, image, and various materials; and the role of social, cultural, and political power in the experience of music and art.
He has had his music featured at festivals and venues including ICMC, SEAMUS, NYCEMF, and Electronic Music Midwest.
